Thursday: Flew, landed, rented a car, dropped off our luggage, picked up Uncle Danny and went to the famous Ruby's for lunch and delicious shakes on Huntington Beach's pier. Shopped for some groceries, went back to the house, hung out outside, watched a movie (some of us--others fell asleep), then went to bed. We were pretty exhausted from the day of traveling.
Jennifer, Carrie, & Kristi
Friday: Woke up and headed for the beach! We walked down Main Street to window shop, went through the farmer's market on the beach, ate at Fred's (cheers!) then found a spot on the beach to enjoy the sun. Chili pepper anyone? Danny was brave enough to take 1 bite.. it was HOT!
Jennifer and Danny were daring enough to try the water, while Carrie and Kristi were spotted searching for seashells, while I kept guard at our towels and watched high school graduates drink and smoke on the beach (both of which are illeagal).
Headed back to the house to get ready to go to the Anaheim Angels game (Jon Garland was traded here, a previous Sox player... a favorite of Jennifer's... was actually scheduled to pitch!).
Jennifer got to stalk her husband. My camara's zoom came in very handy:
Andy and Ellen met us for the game.

Saturday: Marathon Disney day! We were at Disneyland from 9:30 am til 11:30 pm, loving every minute of the happiest place on earth (I did, anyway). Andy and Ellen met us there and got us in completely FREE! Thank you, thank you! We had an awesome time. The lines were surprisingly not too bad, even though it seemed SOOO crowded when we were walking from place to place.
FUN TIMES:
Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue!
Jennifer, Carrie, & Kristi on the Matterhorn Bobsleds

(Jennifer trying to hide her smoking from Mickey)
(Jennifer trying to hide her smoking from Mickey)
Kristi & Jennifer on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Carrie & Jennifer on Peter Pan
We even ventured over to California Adventure (the other park) and went on 3 really awesome rides. One of the roller coasters went around Mickey's head! (You can see it in the background of this picture).
It was Carrie's first time ever at any Disney place, and Kristi's first time at disneyland. The only thing we missed was It's a Small World (because it was closed),
and the Electric Light Parade (it was at the other park). It was a very tiring, but fun-filled day!
Sunday: We took off for the town of Orange, where Kristi met her 96-year old great uncle for the first time. While she met him, Carrie and I went into town, where it seemed like every single store was an antique shop, except for the Soda-Fountain shop, where the 4 of us had lunch once Kristi was done visiting. It's one of the last soda-fountain shops open. The menu said it was used as a set in the movie That Thing You Do. It was a delicious little place! Once we got back to the house, I headed for the pool, while the other girls got adventurous and drove up highway 1 and landed at Laguna Beach. Danny cooked us dinner that night (also delicious!) and then we played PIT- great group game... lots of laughs.
Monday: A very sad last day =(. Time to leave.
We packed and headed to the pier to get one last shake from Ruby's.
Then off to the airport we went to come home. We had an awesome trip and are very thankful to Uncle Danny for letting us stay with him!
Funny Vacation Happenings:
-Bacon cheeseburgers are not the same as Mushroom Swiss burgers.
-Your brush and capris are no good to you in CA if you leave them in Lombard (unless you find it on the last day of the trip...)
-Spiders really do crawl on you while you sleep...or as you are just drifting into sleep and you feel it crawling on your face! EW!
-Coke bottle cards are hard to shuffle. (They also get stopped by security at O'Hare)
-Carrie is an excellent driver under pressure (you know, when our directions from uncle danny say to get off at a certain exit that DOESN'T EXIST!) haha
-The couch is very comfortable to sleep on when your roomate snores too loud.
-Corn is still good without salt!
-Bring extra napkins to clean up shakes and Thousand Island Dressing.
-Perfection of U-Turns
