0ur wonderful sleeping beauty (for naps, anyway). I just don't get it. Aubry will go down for a nap instantly when told it is time, and usually sleeps for 3 hours!! Bedtime? Totally different story. She let me sleep until 7 on my first day of summer vacation, but that's about it. So here she is, this crazy sleeper, in some bizarre sleeping arrangements during her naps:
Here is what she looks like when she is awake - such a cutie!!
She got a scooter for Christmas, so she's been working on her balance. She loves to be pushed on it, and every once in a while wants to "do it myself" - and she's actually pretty good!
Memorial weekend:
A trip to the Shedd Aquarium with Grandma Karen and "Dao"
She made great friends with this penguin -
- and he taught her the proper way to slide:
A cookout at Grebners-
Aubry and Kyri play so well together. They are two peas in a pod, even though they couldn't be more different. Look at cute little Kyri, all dainty in her dress, sandals, and sunglasses. And then there's Aubry - her shoe selection is beyond me. She wouldn't leave the house without wearing her boots.
Kyri was as pretty as a princess
and, well, Aubry tried, too.
Even though they are different as can be, they love each other so much.
Aubry loves to be around Tessa, too. She tells her all the time "Luf you beebee tessa" and gives her hugs and kisses.
Yard work:
Aubry got a present in the mail from Aunt Jan the other day. A cute garden set complete with gloves, shovel, bucket, and watering can! She looked so darn cute playing with her new toy.
We brought them outside to play with, but she got distracted. She was watching intently as Bryan mowed the grass. It's as if she were taking mental notes -
- not moments later did the neighboors come outside to play and gave Aubry a chance to practice what she was just watching her daddy do.
Swimming Time! (or not)
The past few extremely HOT days, Aubry has had a few opportunities to have a dip in her own personal sized pool. For whatever reason, she will not play in it, rather, just next to it - both at our house and at Grandma Karen's. I did manage to talk her into getting her feet wet, so they didn't burn to the pavement.
Fishing
Last but not least, our most recent adventure - taking the boat out! It was just a few nights ago, and despite the horrible heat in the afternoon, it was gorgeous out after 6pm, so we took the boat to Morris and cruised in the river for an hour. Aubry thought we were going fishing, so she needed to bring along her fishing pole, but when we pretended to bait it and threw it in the water, she wanted it right back, and looked at us wondering why we just tried such a thing.
She seemed really nervous on the boat at first, but once she got to steer, she felt more comfortable and giggled the rest of the time.
We've done so much already, and summer has just begun! We are looking forward to many more adventures - and I promise to try and update short updates more frequently - but just to warn you, the next 2 weeks I will be in class from 8-4, so the short updates will begin at the end of the month. =)
