This Christmas Season was so much fun. Aubry is getting more grown up by the day, trying new things, doing things by herself, and has such a wild imagination. I really tried to soak up time with her, since it will be the last Christmas as "3 Knutsons".
On one of my days off we went to Pop Ken's to decorate some cookies (they were delicious, by the way, even the ones with globs of frosting and piles of sprinkles)
Christmas Eve was spent at my parent's house. Both my mom's and dad's side of the families gather here for dinner, a visit from Rudolph, and presents. Aubry had a lot of fun playing with her big cousin, Luke, and giggled with her Great Aunts, Great Uncles, and Great Grandparents. She and Mia were definitely spoiled in the toy department.
"my own puter!!!!"
"oh boy, its just what I wanted!!!"
Aubry was pretty exhausted after the Christmas Eve party. We were surprised to be awake before her on Christmas morning. When she finally woke up, we told her we were going to go downstairs to see if Santa came. She said "no, he didn't come yet". We tried to convince her, but she didn't believe it until she walked up to the tree and saw some blocks set up and some presents under the tree.
One of Santa's presents: glass slippers (in the photo) "to go with my princess stuff". Santa also brought some Hidden Picture books, coloring books, puzzles, 2 Disney movies, and 2 outfits for baby.
Shortly after dress up time, we headed to the Bostons to open presents with Uncle B, Aunt Les, Mia, Grandma Karen, and Grandpa Dale. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast, then started the mass chaos of opening presents. Aubry got lots of games, a nightlight aquarium that has a Nemo and Dory inside (phew!), a Little People house and figures, and some clothes. Mia got this awesome truck from Grandma Sally and Grandpa Dave that the girls took turns driving, and a kitchen from Grandma Karen and Grandpa Dale.
We had to pack things up pretty quickly after they were unwrapped so we could open presents with Grandma Nancy, Grandpa Mike, Aunt T, Uncle Kyle, Kyri, and Tessa. Let's call this Round 3. Clearly the morning at the Bostons was not at all chaotic compared to Round 3 and Round 4.As soon as we arrived, there was a giant dollhouse set up waiting for Aubry. It came with lots of furniture and an entire family that will soon match Aubry's: a mom, dad, daughter, and boy/girl tiwn babies! Definitely a big hit. There was more dress up stuff in her stocking, a trampoline from the Burritts, and a Bounce House from Santa!! Little Tessa got her own chair, and even bounced with the big girls for a little bit.
Aubry was a bouncing machine. She could bounce all day if we let her. She would bounce through meals, bounce through nap time, and just keep bouncing. When it was time for Round 4 (presents from Aunt Sherry, Aunt Sandy, and Aunt "Susie"), she almost lost it. She did not want to put the bounce house away to open presents. She eventually gave in, and opened some exciting things: a baby high chair, paint center, clothes, princess games, coloring fun, and so much more that I can't even think of right now.
Aubry was blessed with so many wonderful things and so much love. We are so lucky to have such generous family!
28 weeks
By now, most of you know. The Wednesday after Christmas I went in for my normal check up. Everything about the babies looked right on track. Baby A is about 2 lbs, 10 oz, and Baby B is about 2 lbs, 8 oz. They are moving pretty much all of the time, and I have been feeling just fine. However, during the ultrasound, the doctor noticed that I had a contraction. They decided to put me on a monitor for 20 minutes to see if they were happening frequently. Even though I wasn't feeling any, they were coming randomly, so I was sent over to Edward Hospital to get monitored a little more closely, and to try to stop the contractions. I was immediately hooked up to an IV for fluids (they said that was a quick fix to stopping them) but that didn't work, so I got 3 rounds of a shot in my arm. That seemed to slow them up and thought I was going to get to go home, but then they started again. This brought on a pill to take every 6 hours. They kept me overnight for TWO nights to make sure things were not progressing into labor, even though the contractions were not stopping. Since things were not progressing, and a test to determine if delivery would happen within the next 2 weeks came back negative, I was sent home Friday morning, on orders of "bed rest". Bed rest?!?! With a 2 year old? What about work? What about getting the twins room ready? and putting away decorations? and cleaning? and grocery shopping, and....well, everything. Some of these things have worked out well. My maternity sub that we interviewed right before winter break said she could start asap, and Bryan worked his butt off this weekend to get the house in shape, filled the fridge with food, did the laundry, and got an enormous amount of work done in the twins room. He was Super Husband. And Super Dad. Since I am not allowed to get up and walk around, except to go to the bathroom, he even entertained Aubry while doing all that stuff.
I have an appointment in a few days to see how things are looking. Hopefully I won't be back in the hospital. Right now, they only put be on bed rest for 2 weeks, so there is a small possibility that I could return to work, but we will see. I definitely do not do things lightly at work, and I don't want anything progressing. These babies need to stay cookin' for as long as possible!
New Year's Eve
So, even though I was on bed rest, Bryan let me out of the house to be on "couch rest" at the Burritts to hang out with them and the Owen/Donna Burrits. It was interesting just being a spectator, as there were 6 little girls running/crawling around. Charlie, Kyri, and Aubry played with each other all night. Tessa started walking, and Gwyneth and Lillian were crawling around. The guys deep fried a turkey (which was so delicious!!!) and then we had our New Year's countdown with Rio de Janeiro at 8pm. I'm not so sure the girls really understood what we were counting down, but they liked their party hats and noise makers. The party ended at 9:40 and we headed out. The three of us were asleep way before midnight :)
Our 3rd annual Pajama Party Birthday Brunch at the Knutsons came just a few hours later (or so it seemed). Because I'm a couch potato, I have no pictures, but we enjoyed another delicious meal together. It was a nice comfy morning since everyone was in jammies (excpet Aubry, who needed to be naked until we forced her to atl east put a shirt on!!)
