Week #2

Happy 2 weeks old!!
Morgyn and Grady are doing great - eating and pooping, right on track. Sleeping? A little more at night, but it still seems like they want to eat the most while I want to sleep :) We have decided to just do formula at night, to try to fill them up, allowing Bryan and I to get as long a stretch of sleep as possible. Our routine for night shifts has been working so far: I will get up with Morgyn, and let Bryan sleep (she sleeps in a portable cradle on my side of the bed; he will get up with Grady and let me sleep (he sleeps on Bryan's side). Diapers, wipes, and burp cloths are in between our pillows for easy access. I think this has been working well because they aren't eating at the same time at night, but for some reason are very close to the same eating schedule during the day. Strange that that is happening, but it is.
Yesterday they had a weight check: from birth to a day shy of 2 weeks old, Morgyn started at 5-15, left the hospital at 5-10, was 6 at the first appt, and is now 6-8!! Grady started at 5-10, left the hospital at 5-5, was 5-10 at the first appt, and is now 6-7!! Both of them are definitely gaining the proper "1 oz a day" that the doctors like to see. Grady's 13 oz weight gain is due to getting mostly formula throughout the day, because when he latches, we are lucky if he stays on for 5 minutes. He has upped the amount of formula he takes from 2 to 3 oz! Morgyn, on the other hand, is mostly nursing. However, we have noticed recently that even after nursing for 25 minutes, she is still hungry, and sometimes takes an additional 2 oz of formula... This makes a very long feeding process, so we'll see how much longer I nurse.
Enough of the updates, let's get to some pictures!!

Grady has just started becoming more alert during the day. I swear that I hardly saw him with his eyes open during our first week home, but now he his wide eyed, and adorable...
The boys

This weather has been amazing. We have been so lucky to have high 60s and low 70s in early March - I hope it doesn't go away!! Bryan's last day before heading back to work....we headed out for some sunshine and fresh air. Aubry had a great time, talked the entire time, and found a stick shaped like an A. She was so proud of herself! When we got home, she dug a blanket out of my car and insisted we have a picnic. Aubry: "Go get food for our picnic, dad" Dad: "What kind of food do you want?" Aubry: "carrots and cranberries". Soon after the picnic started, the neighbors came out to enjoy the weather. Aubry has so much fun playing with Sam and Nate. They even included her in their baseball game and let her borrow a mitt. Did she catch that ball??? [Every night this week she has gone outside to run around with the boys]

Since Bryan went back to work, my mom stayed with us all week to help keep Aubry entertained, drive to 2 dr. appointments, make breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and has been a HUGE help!!! One night Aubry took a walk with me and my mom. This is what we found when we got back...
SUPER DAD!!!
 Best big sister ever!!!
An awake Grady..(still no smiles like Morgyn's last week, but he is very handsome when he is awake)
On Wednesday Grandma Nancy took Aubry, Kyri, and Tessa to meet Pop Ken at the park while me and my mom took the babies to their weight check. My mom was also watching Mia, so we met everyone at the park. It was so fun watching Aubry climb on everything all by herself. She even did the slides by herself, which was never her favorite thing last summer. There were some older boys there (maybe age 6) that started saying "no girls allowed" on part of the playground equipment. Aubry and Kyri did not back down one bit!! They came back with "no boys allowed!" and stood their with their hands on their hips, until the boys' moms came and told them to make sure they were sharing the equipment and letting the girls play. Later, a little girl walked up to Aubry and said "what is your name?" Aubry: "My name is Aubry" Little girl: "My name is Madeline. There's an A in my name". Aubry: "There's an A in my name, too!". I just can't believe how social Aubry is. It's so amazing watching her interact and have conversations with other kids - even kids she doesn't know!

It was a good week - maybe because I was able to nap almost every day for almost an hour and a half? (3-4:30, 3:30-5, 4-5:30) I went to see my doctor today and she said that my incision looks good - it's just a little swollen still, and should go down soon. I have driving privileges back, but should still take it easy. I have tried to not take as much pain medication - only taking some Motrin once a day (usually feel a little achy after walks).
I still am not sure how I will handle all three kids by myself all day, since I didn't even have time to make my own lunch. My mom will be back again next week to help. Hopefully by week 4 we will be on much more of a schedule, so I can find time to make food (for everyone) and find time to eat it :)
