Hello from the wild wild west!
Bryan and I are surviving RV life wonderfully! There are no pics right now (technical difficulties uploading the pics onto the computer from the memory card... so SORRY! We are working on fixing the problem, but I wanted to update in words first. Come back and scroll through the pics when they are up).
We left 83RV at 2:45pm. Bryan drove all the way to Rochester, MN, our first stop. Coincidentally, where we stopped Bryan has been before! It's where he usually stops for gas on his way to SD to pheasant hunt. Anywho, it was around 8:45, where I started driving. I drove about 250 miles until we switched again at 12:30 near Sioux Falls, SD. I was jamming to country and broadway musical selections to keep me awake, but I was so excited for our trip, I didn't feel tired anyway. Bryan drove for another 2 hrs, then pulled over to a rest area where we got a bit of shut eye.
The sun (and lots and lots of wind) woke us up bright and early at 6:30. We had some cereal and got back on the road. Bryan drove and drove (while I napped) until we got to the town of Wall. Yes, Wal Drug was on our list of must-see places. What a sight! It's not just a store, it's a whole tourist attraction! We enjoyed a delicious homemade doughnut, then got back on the road and drove through parts of Badlands National Park. Saw some cool works of glacier art from millions of years ago there. Our drive continued towards Mt. Rushmore. We got there about 1:00 (SD time.. we are an hour behind Chicago). What a site! We were astonished at how the carving had so much detail. We've seen plenty of pictures of it, but to see it in person was awesome! We were just like Ben Gates in National Treasure 2, climbing the Presidential Trail to get a closer look. We didn't quite make it as far as them in the movie, but we got some great pics (again, sorry you can't see them right now). After we "ood" and "awed" we headed towards Crazy Horse, another formation being carved into a mountain. They have been working on it for 60 years and still are not done, and have quiet a lot to go. We didn't stay very long, as there was not as much to do there, so we got back on the road and traveled about an hour to our campsite.
We were a little nervous about our first time to "hook-up" the rv, but we did it with no troubles. I continued to unpack inside the RV while Bryan cooked bbq chicken and grilled zucchini. Delicious! We are sitting outside right now, enjoying the relaxation and quiet, as well as kicking ourselves for not buying that oh-so-good-looking cherry pie slices from Wall Drug. Oh well! We do have delicious cookie bars from Nancy... THANKS!
So that's it for now... check back again for pics!

Sounds like you're having a blast! Can't wait to see some pictures! My question for the tavelers is - how often do you need to get gas and how much does it cost to fill up?
We are still waiting for you to pick us up.... Sounds like you're having a great time. Looking forward to some pics. My co worker Bill will be ready to be picked up on Monday when you're doing the Float Trip; he's patiently waiting.
